At 9:00 PM on September 18th, police officers from the Banglamung Police Station apprehended the suspect, identified only as Mr. Sakon, a 51-year-old man from Nakhon Sawan, for robbing a street food vendor. The arrest took place at his residence in the Eua Athon Naklua housing estate, Banglamung district, Chonburi province, where the suspect was found wearing only a towel, as he was about to shower.
During the search of Mr. Sakon’s residence, police found some of the vendor’s stolen items hidden in a bag, as well as the clothing worn during the crime. Additionally, a black Honda PCX motorbike used in the crime was discovered at the house.
Mr. Sakon reportedly admitted to the crime and was taken to Banglamung Police Station. The victim, Mrs. Krathiam, a 52-year-old food vendor, was brought in to identify the suspect. She recalled that the robber concealed his face with a motorbike helmet, ordered food from her that morning, and later stole her belongings, including two mobile phones, watches, and other valuables, while pretending to head to a nearby convenience store.
According to police, CCTV footage caught Mr. Sakon riding a motorcycle, changing clothes, and then returning to his room after the robbery. The suspect has a criminal history with four prior convictions related to theft and drugs. He claimed that he committed the crime out of desperation after losing his job.
