Pattaya, Thailand–
The residents of Banglamung and Pattaya have shown remarkable generosity in response to the recent flooding in many parts of Thailand, especially the North, extending the donation period and collecting a total of 573,000 baht in cash donations and various consumer goods. The efforts are being coordinated by the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation in Pattaya City.
On September 5th, 2024, a meeting was held at the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation, attended by key figures including Mr. Poramese Ngampiches, Mayor of Pattaya City and Mr. Prasert Thongthitcharoen, Vice President of the Foundation, along with many others. The meeting summarized the outcomes of the extended donation period from August 30th to September 5th 2024 that we had previously announced here at The Pattaya News.
The joint effort involved multiple organizations, including the Pattaya City Council, Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation, Banglamung District, Pattaya City Police Station, and Chonburi Immigration. They established seven donation points across the region, collecting essential items and cash donations to support flood victims in the northern region of Thailand.
The first batch of relief supplies, including 1,000 sets of relief bags and a 50,000 baht donation, was delivered to Phu Wiang District in Nan Province, benefiting six villages. Additionally, 350 relief bags and 20,000 baht were sent to Phayao Province to aid flood victims.
The extended donation period saw residents of Pattaya contributing items such as instant noodles, rice, milk, household medicines, canned fish, drinking water, and other necessities. The Sawang Foundation staff organized 1,200 relief bags and 8,200 packages of drinking water. Cash donations were collected at various points, including:
– Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation: 212,475 baht
– Pattaya City: 168,500 baht
– Banglamung District: 85,909 baht
– Pattaya City Police Station and Chonburi Immigration: 106,116 baht
In total, 573,000 baht was raised, along with 1,200 relief bags and essential items, ready to be distributed to flood victims. The situation will be continuously assessed to determine which areas, such as Ayutthaya Province, will receive further assistance.
The northern and northeastern regions of Thailand remain a priority as the community’s generosity continues to provide much-needed support to those affected by the floods.
