Pattaya —
The Pattaya Nong Nooch Tropical Garden recently held a grand ceremony to welcome the sixth baby elephant of this year.
The ceremony was held at the 200-rai garden on August 16th, 2024, with Mr. Kampon Tansajja, the garden’s president, chairing the occasion.
Phra Kru Kasemkittisophon, the abbot of Phutaluang Temple, was invited to perform the traditional welcoming rites for the newborn elephant. The abbot applied powder on the foreheads of the mother and baby elephant for good fortune, followed by a procession of 30 traditional dancers and 38 elephants.
The new calf, named ‘Phlai Kanun,’ was born to the father, Phlai Muk, and the mother, Phang Chomphu, on August 9th, 2024, at 00:15 AM. Both the calf and mother are in good health, with the garden’s specialized caretakers providing excellent care.
Mr. Kampon expressed his delight at the arrival of the new elephant, noting that this is the sixth baby elephant born this year. With this new addition, the Pattaya Nong Nooch Tropical Garden now has a total of 79 elephants, all of which are closely monitored by their dedicated staff.
