Pattaya —
On August 16th, 2024, Mr. Kritsana Boonsawat, the Deputy Mayor of Pattaya, chaired a meeting to review the outcomes of the 31st Pattaya Marathon, held from July 20-21, 2024.
The event, recognized by the World Athletics Road Race Label, featured races of 42.195 km, 21.1 km, and 10 km, and attracted over 15,000 runners from 66 countries, along with more than 10,000 spectators. The marathon generated an impressive 297 million baht in revenue, far exceeding the 18 million baht invested by both the public and private sectors.
Kritsana praised the organizing committee for their success, noting that both Thai and international participants were highly satisfied with the event. Despite the challenges posed by the monsoon season, the marathon was conducted smoothly, showcasing Pattaya as a prime destination for sports tourism in Southeast Asia. He also acknowledged areas for improvement around road closures and traffic management, which will be addressed in future events.
Mr. Kobkiat Sangwanich, the CEO of Thailand Tri-League, compared the challenging course to the Boston Marathon in the United States. He highlighted the efficiency of the medical team, as there were no serious injuries, enhancing the event’s reputation for safety and excellence.
