Pattaya —
A Thai man off his medication crashed into several cars in Pattaya before being apprehended and sent to the hospital for treatment.
At 8:40 PM on September 7th, 2024, Nongprue police received a report that a man driving a Toyota Wish had crashed into multiple vehicles and fled. However, Good Samaritans managed to stop the driver in front of Soi Khao Talo 6. Upon receiving the report, police officers immediately went to investigate.
There, officers found the gold Toyota Wish with significant damage to the front left side and door from the collisions. The driver had jumped into the back seat and reportedly refused to cooperate with police.
After unsuccessful attempts to calm him down, officers took advantage of a moment of distraction to apprehend him. The man, identified only as Mr. Rungrit, was agitated and shouted uncontrollably. Police searched his vehicle and found a large amount of trash and one pocket knife.
Later, the man’s nephew, Mr. Lakchakorn, arrived at the scene and explained that his uncle suffers from a mental health condition and requires regular medication, which he had not taken for nearly a year. The family had been searching for him all day before finding him at the scene of the accident.
The police took the man to the hospital for medical treatment. His damaged vehicle was taken to Nongprue Police Station, and the insurance company was contacted to handle the repairs. Affected individuals whose vehicles were damaged in the incident were advised to contact Nongprue Police Station for compensation.
