Pattaya —
Pattaya authorities removed a motorbike taxi stand that had allegedly encroached on a public walkway on Second Road.
Pattaya Deputy Mayor Mr. Wuthisak Rermkitchakit instructed Pattaya municipal officials to investigate the motorcycle taxi stand in question on Wednesday, May 1st. It was understood that the stand had erected unauthorized makeshift sunshades on the footpath near the Tops Intersection on Pattaya Second Road.
The sunshades were made out of old umbrellas and advertising boards, obstructing the pedestrian walkway and creating a bad sight. As a result, officials removed these structures to restore the public space.
Additionally, the officials signed a memorandum of understanding with the motorcycle taxi drivers who used the stand. The drivers had been told not to encroach on public areas again otherwise they may face legal consequences.
