Pattaya City, Thailand – In collaboration with Lions Clubs International District 310 Thailand, Pattaya City is gearing up to host the 61st Oriental & Southeast Asia Lions Forum (OSEAL) Conference. The event is expected to generate hundreds of millions of baht in economic activity, according to organisers.
On August 15th, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., a preparatory meeting was held at Meeting Room 242, Pattaya City Hall. The meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Poramese Ngampiches, Mayor of Pattaya City, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Wira Ladnongkhun, Chairman of the 61st OSEAL Forum Pattaya. They were joined by a working group from Lions Clubs International District 310 Thailand, including Mr. Phumipat Kamolnat, Secretary to the Mayor of Pattaya City, and Mr. Banjong Banthuraprayuk, Vice President of the Pattaya City Council. Heads of government agencies, representatives from various associations, and related agencies were also in attendance.
The 61st OSEAL Conference is scheduled to take place from November 14th-17th, 2024, at the PEACH International Convention Center, Royal Cliff Beach Hotel, Pattaya. This annual meeting will bring together Lions Club members from 16 countries in the OSEAL region, including Japan, Korea, Taiwan, China, the Philippines, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Guam, Mongolia, Brunei, Macau, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Thailand. The conference aims to foster networking, idea exchange, friendship building, and cultural exchange among members.
With over 5,000 attendees expected, the event is anticipated to significantly boost the local economy. Mayor Poramese expressed confidence in Pattaya City’s readiness to support the conference, emphasizing the potential benefits for the tourism industry, hotels, transportation systems, and restaurants. He highlighted that the event would create jobs and generate income for the residents of Pattaya and Chonburi Province, further enhancing Thailand’s reputation as a premier destination for international conferences.
