Nongprue, Thailand–
On the evening of September 10th, 2024, Nongprue Police successfully apprehended a gang involved in the theft of motorcycles for illegal sales.
The operation, led by Pol. Col. Tawi Kutthaeng, Superintendent of Nongprue Police Station, along with Pol. Lt. Col. Chumphon Saenwichai and Pol. Lt. Col. Somchanok Fakphairot, resulted in the recovery of several stolen motorcycles.
The arrests took place in a cassava forest a few kilometers from the theft scene. The police were alerted by multiple complaints from the public about a series of motorcycle thefts occurring in a single night. Acting swiftly, the investigation team reviewed CCTV footage to trace the escape route of the thieves. An unidentified local villager provided crucial information about the location of the hidden motorcycles.
The police set up a surveillance operation and, by evening, intercepted the gang as they attempted to transport the stolen motorcycles in a covered pickup truck. While two suspects managed to escape, one was apprehended on the spot. The arrested individual claimed they were hired to transport the motorcycles to black market buyers.
Victims of the thefts were overjoyed upon learning that their motorcycles had been recovered. One victim, in particular, expressed immense gratitude to the police, shedding tears of joy and thanking the officers for their prompt action.
Pol. Col. Tawi Kutthaeng urged the community to take preventive measures to protect their property, such as using locks and parking vehicles inside their homes. He also assured that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the remaining suspects, who will face prosecution.
The name of the arrested suspect was withheld as police said it could compromise a further investigation to find his accomplices.
