Pattaya, September 8th, 2024–
A man was rescued after being trapped in an elevator for nearly two hours following a power outage caused by heavy rain. The incident occurred at an apartment building in Soi Krom Thidin 4 in Nongprue.
At 5:56 p.m., the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Unit in Pattaya received a report of a person trapped in an elevator. Rescue volunteers, equipped with cutting and prying tools, promptly rushed to the scene along with The Pattaya News team.
The incident took place in a five-story apartment building. Residents and apartment staff were found attempting to pry open the elevator door on the fourth floor. Inside the elevator shaft, Mr. Korn Kitjamorn, 33, had been trapped for over an hour and a half, drenched in sweat. Fortunately, the elevator door was not fully closed, allowing a fan to ventilate the area.
Rescue workers used cutting equipment to pry open the elevator door, successfully freeing Mr. Korn. He explained that he lived on the fourth floor of the building. During the heavy rain, he had taken the elevator as usual, but a power outage caused it to stop, trapping him inside for nearly two hours. A neighbor heard his calls for help and alerted the rescue team.
Mr. Korn expressed his gratitude to both the rescue workers and the residents who assisted in his safe rescue.
