Pattaya —
A 57-year-old hospital maid was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident after being rear-ended while making a sudden U-turn near Pattaya on September 14th, 2024.
At 5:06 PM, Huai Yai police received a report of a car colliding with a motorcycle at a U-turn on Highway 331 in the Huai Yai sub-district in Chonburi province. After receiving the report, police and rescue teams from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation rushed to the scene along with reporters from The Pattaya News.
Upon arrival, a black Honda Civic was found with significant front-end damage. The driver, 42-year-old Ms. Chidchanok (family name withheld upon request), was at the scene. She was uninjured.
The other involved vehicle, a gray-black Honda Wave 110 motorcycle, was found severely damaged nearby. Tragically, the motorcycle’s rider, 57-year-old Ms. Saifon Fijaturat, a maid at a hospital in the Sattahip area, was found deceased on the side of the road. Additionally, a white Toyota Hilux Vigo pickup truck was also involved, having rear-ended the motorcycle.
According to Ms. Chidchanok, the driver of the Honda Civic, she was heading towards Sattahip in the far-right lane when the motorcycle rider suddenly cut across from the left lane to make a U-turn, leaving her no time to brake and avoid the collision. She crashed into the motorcycle, causing the rider to lose control and be subsequently struck by a Toyota Hilux Vigo pickup.
The deceased was taken to Banglamung Hospital to await her relatives for further religious rites. Police are reviewing CCTV footage and investigating the involved drivers’ claims to establish the exact cause of the collision.
