Relevant police apprehended a burglar who, likely choosing the worst possible home to rob, broke into the residence of the Governor of Chanthaburi Province to steal a water pump. The suspect, identified as Mr. Chonlathit Wongpramut, also known as Oat, has a history of multiple crimes.

The Crime:
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on September 6th, 2024, Bang Lamung Police Station received a report of a burglary in the Takhian Tia Subdistrict. The house belongs to Mr. Montisit Paisarnthanawat, the current Governor of Chanthaburi Province. CCTV footage captured Mr. Wongpramut climbing into the house and stealing a water pump. He also attempted to break into the air compressor, causing damage.
Investigation and Arrest:
The police investigation team, led by Pol. Col. Nawin Sinthurat and Pol. Lt. Col. Kornpong Sukwisit, quickly identified the suspect from the CCTV footage. They tracked Mr. Wongpramut to his residence, located approximately 800 meters from the crime scene. Within 12 hours, the police arrested him and recovered the stolen water pump.
Confession and Motive:
Mr. Wongpramut confessed to the crime, citing stress from the recent loss of his wife and alcohol consumption as reasons for his actions. He claimed he was unaware that the house belonged to the governor.
Criminal History:
A background check revealed Mr. Wongpramut’s history of theft and drug use. During the arrest, a drug test indicated the presence of illegal substances in his system. Consequently, he faces charges of nighttime theft, property damage, and illegal use of Category 1 narcotics.
Mr. Wongpramut is now in police custody and will be prosecuted according to the law.
